Gaza violence continues despite efforts for truce

Fighting raged Friday in Gaza forcing thousands of Palestinians to flee seeking shelter, after Qatar said Hamas had given "initial" support to a hostage-prisoner exchange that would pause its war with Israel.

The Hamas press office reported Israeli air and artillery bombardment around Khan Yunis — southern Gaza's main city and the focus of recent fighting.

Israel pounds Gaza on 99th day of war

Israel pounded Gaza on Saturday as the Palestinian territory suffered under a dire humanitarian situation and grappled with a telecommunications blackout on the 99th day of the war.

Fears of the conflict widening have grown after U.S. and British forces struck pro-Hamas Huthi rebels in Yemen following attacks on Red Sea shipping, with a fresh U.S. air strike confirmed Saturday.

The UN humanitarian coordinator for the Palestinian territory, Lynn Hastings, said on Monday that the current amount of aid is insufficient and that there are no conditions necessary for the delivery of aid to Gaza, reports CNN.
Hastings added that it is possible that "an even more hellish scenario will soon unfold, which humanitarian operations may not be able to respond to".

The Palestinian Red Crescent said today that it has been told to leave Al Quds Hospital, which currently houses more than 400 patients and 12,000 displaced Gazans.
The spokesman said: "We call on the world to take immediate action to prevent another massacre like the one that took place at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital."

Dozens hurt in clashes at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque: Red Crescent

Fresh clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque  injured 42 people on April 29, the Palestinian Red Crescent said, following weeks of violence at the flashpoint site.

The unrest came on the final Friday in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. None of the injuries were serious, the Red Crescent said, adding that 22 people had been taken to hospital.
