Visual Anthropology Summer School | Athens | July 1-23
The Netherlands Institute in Athens, the Athens Ethnographic Film Festival, the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at VU Amsterdam, in cooperation with the Ethnographic Laboratory of Panteion University, are organizing an intensive summer school on visual anthropology in collaboration with Dutch and Greek universities for the third year in a row.
Athens mayor calls for minister to quit over lawlessness at universities
Alternate Citizens' Protection Minister Nikos Toskas accused Athens Mayor Girogos Kaminis on Friday of "political hypocrisy" after the latter's call for his resignation over the state of the capital's universities.
Toskas said Kaminis's call was politically motivated and driven by his ambition to play a central role on the country's political stage.
Hundreds call for end to violence at universities
Two weeks after a violent attack on Athens professor Angelos Syrigos on the premises of Panteion University, 2,186 academics and intellectuals have signed a joint statement condemning the assault and a recent resurgence of lawlessness on college campuses.

Not a single measure has been introduced over the past few years aimed at helping jobless Greeks who are middle-aged or older. Labor Ministry officials behave as if unemployment is not an issue among people in those age groups.
