Vice President Georgieva To Leave EC for 1 Month
The Vice President of the European Commission Kristalina Georgieva will be on unpaid leave for one month and her functions will be taken over by Commissioner Günther Oettinger in October.
This is the decision of the President of the Commission Jean-Claude Juncker after the Bulgarian government nominated Georgieva for UN Secretary General.

A delegation from the European Parliament's (EP) Socialist Group, including EU Turkey rapporteur Kati Piri, is set to pay a visit Feb. 19 to the Sur district of southeastern Diyarbak?r province, where the clashes between the security forces and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants have been ongoing for months.

Bulgaria's Socialists to Elect New Leader in May
The biggest opposition party in Bulgaria, the BSP, is set to hold a new Congress and elect a leader, less than two years after incumbent Mihail Mikov took over the party.

EU Socialists' Leader Stanishev Meeting Jeremy Corbyn Saturday
Sergey Stanishev, head the Party of European Socialists (PES), is to meet with the UK Labour party's leader Jeremy Corbyn over the weekend.
Stanishev is going to London as part of a PES delegation for Labour's Annual Conference taking place between September 27 and 30, Bulgarian newspapers report, citing the PES press office.
'Socialist Beer' Adds Appeal to Traditional Buzludzha Fest
A "Socialist Beer" is being featured at the traditional Mount Buzludzha fest held by Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) members, activists, followers and sympathizers this Sunday.
The year 2014 is the 124th anniversary since the BSP was set up. Private national bTV station reports that the beer, brewed specially for the socialist party, is available for just BGN 1.20 (EUR 0.60).
Key Bulgarian Opposition Official Quitting Party
Strahil Angelov, a former lawmaker and now deputy head of one of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP)'s local organizations in the capital Sofia, is leading the party.
Along with two other BSP members, Iskra Neycheva and Bozhidar Petrov, Angelov is quitting due to the lack of development within the party which, in his words, is failing to move forward in a constantly changing world.

Macedonian Opposition Leader Zoran Zaev to Visit Bulgaria Friday - SDSM
The leader of Macedonia's opposition Social Democrats Zoran Zaev will pay one-day visit to neighbouring Bulgaria on Friday, the party has announced.
Zaev is expected to meet high-ranking Bulgarian officials as well as leaders of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), according to the announcement posted on the website of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) on Thursday.
