Several opposition parties submit demand for early elections

BELGRADE - Several Serbian opposition parties, including the Democratic Party, the Party of Freedom and Justice and the Green-Left Front, on Monday submitted a formal demand for early parliamentary elections and early local elections in Belgrade before the end of this year.

The demand was submitted at the Presidency of Serbia in central Belgrade.

MP of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Vladimir Orlic was elected parliament speaker in an open ballot, with 154 votes in favor and 76 opposed, out of 230 MPs present.
"154 voted in favor, 76 opposed, while there were no abstentions," MP Vladeta Jankovi announced at 9:30 p.m. as the chairman of the constitutive session of the parliament.

"Imagine that the ambulance is prevented to pass... We want to behave democratically and that has a price. We have to endure the terror of the minority from time to time. We have to show good will. My advice is to let them do what they want... So that people can see the difference between those who work and build and those who do not work", said Vui.
