Bosnian Serbs State Price For Accepting New High Representative

Christian Schmidt of Germany will take over from Valentin Inzko as head of the international community's Office of High representative, OHR, to Bosnia from August 1, the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council, PIC, which groups countries overseeing the peace in Bosnia, confimed on Thursday.

Campaign Gets Underway for Elections in Bosnia

Bosnia and Herzegovina entered its official pre-election campaign period on Friday, ahead of parliamentary and presidential elections that will be held on October 7.

A total of 3,352,933 registered voters may choose between 53 parties, 36 coalitions, and 34 independent candidates that have been confirmed as eligible to run by Bosnia's Central Election Commission.

Divided World Powers Meet to Support Unified Bosnia

Representatives of some 50 world powers, including the US, Russia, EU and most EU member countries, convene in Sarajevo on Tuesday and Wednesday for a regular biannual meeting of the Peace Implementation Council, PIC, the ad hoc body overseeing the work of Bosnia and Herzegovina's once-powerful international administrator, the Office of the High Representative, OHR.
