Turkish journalists rally for press freedom amid rising pressure

Journalists have rallied in Istanbul in solidarity with colleagues who have faced politically-motivated attacks and threats in recent weeks.

After gathering in the Tünel neighborhood of the central Beyo?lu district on Oct. 3, journalists marched to Galatasaray Square with placards reading: "Free press cannot be silenced."

Party schisms emerge over poll safety for Nov 1

The Justice and Development Party (AKP) has spilt into two camps over the continuing debate on whether the Supreme Election Board (YSK) had the authority to decide on the relocation of ballot boxes, while a key figure in the Republican People's Party (CHP) has backed AKP Deputy Head Mehmet Ali ?ahin's suggestion that the YSK does not hold such authority.
