A very hot political summer is set to begin June 23, when Turkey's new parliament will convene for an oath-taking ceremony, which will be followed by an intense period of bargaining between the four political parties over the formation of a coalition government.

Kemal K?l?çdaro?lu, the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP), has offered the seat of prime minister to Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) counterpart Devlet Bahçeli in a bid to convince the nationalist leader to form a coalition government with the CHP. 

A state funeral was held in Ankara for former Turkish President and seven-time Prime Minister Süleyman Demirel, who died aged 90 on June 17.

Demirel's body was taken from his house on Güniz Street, located in the Tunal? neighborhood of Ankara, at 8 a.m. on June 19, and brought to the Turkish parliament for the state ceremony that was held between 9-9:45 a.m. 

Turkey's top election body has eventually announced the final results of the June 7 general election, prompting all eyes to turn to the first sitting of the new parliament on the fifth day after the announcement of the results, on June 23.
