SNS official elected parliament speaker

BELGRADE -- Maja Gojković, a member of parliament from the Serb Progressive Party (SNS), was elected as new Serbian parliament speaker by a majority vote on Wednesday.

BELGRADE - Official and MP Maja Gojkovic of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has become a candidate for the speaker of the Serbian parliament.

The proposal to make Gojkovic a parliament speaker candidate was signed by 30 members of the parliament.

Economy and Energy Minister Dragomir Stoynev has vowed that Bulgaria will fight for the implementation of the South Stream gas pipeline project.

Stoynev told journalists Thursday that Bulgaria would comply with the decisions of the European Commission but it would seek a financial mechanism for the countries which would be negatively affected by the move.

EC President Jose Barroso has told Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Deputy Chair of Bulgarian party GERB, that the South Stream gas pipeline has not been given priority treatment in Europe.
