Five years after founding the centre-right To Potami (River) party in March, 2014, Stavros Theodorakis has announced his intention of resigning after the party's disastrous showing of 1.5 percent of the vote in the 26 June European Parliament election.

Though a parliamentary party, it finished in ninth place.

The head of the center-left coalition Movement for Change, Fofi Gennimata, said on Friday the party is ready to accept a solution to the name dispute between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) but will not approve a deal that does not comply with the conditions set in a meeting of political party leaders in 1992.

The Political Council of the new right-wing formation New Republic has submitted to the Central Election Commission (CEC) the documents for registration for participation in the snap parliamentary elections.

Montenegro's ruling party congress, scheduled for next week, is expected to reaffirm Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic's position as leader and tighten party discipline.

Djukanovic, a former communist, has led Montenegro for almost 25 years. He is seeking his seventh mandate as leader of a party that has been in power without interruption since the beginning of the nineties.

The New Democracy parliamentary team will be convening on the 5th of March, under the presidency of party president Antonis Samaras. The Political Council of the party will convene on the 8th of March.
