President Klaus Iohannis will have on Wednesday a working meeting at the Cotroceni presidential Palace on the management of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Presidential Administration informs.

Romania is committed to remaining the most sincere supporter of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, as the neighbouring country reaffirms its determination to strengthen its European path, according to the Joint Statement signed by Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

President Klaus Iohannis will pay an official visit to Chisinau on Tuesday at the invitation of his Moldovan counterpart, Maia Sandu, the Presidential Administration says on Monday, in a release to Agerpres. This will be the first high-level visit received, in Chisinau, by Maia Sandu, after taking office as President, following the 15 November elections in the Republic of Moldova.

The presidents of Romania, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia have issued a joint statement in support of Moldova's elected president, Maia Sandu, to be sworn in on Thursday. "We, the Presidents of Romania, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia, congratulate Ms Maia Sandu on her inauguration as President of the Republic of Moldova.

President Klaus Iohannis welcomed at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace on Tuesday agreed Ambassador of Canada Annick Goulet, agreed Ambassador of Japan Hiroshi Ueda, and agreed Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic Maria Teresa Netto dos Santos Mariano Shearman de Macedo.

Romania's President Klaus Iohannis has invited the chairs of the parties and political formations represented in Romania's Parliament, to the Cotroceni Presidential Palace on Monday, for consultations aimed at designating the candidate for the prime minister office, the Presidential Administration informs.

President Klaus Iohannis is attending the European Council meeting in Brussels on Thursday and Friday. In the context of the meeting in Brussels, Klaus Iohannis spoke on Tuesday, on the telephone, with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, at the latter's request.

President Klaus Iohannis participated today in a video-conference meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union Member States accredited in Bucharest, on the occasion of the traditional biannual meeting organized by Germany, as the current holder of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

President Klaus Iohannis signed today the decree acknowledging Ludovic Orban's resignation as Prime Minister and the one appointing Defense Minister Nicolae Ciuca as caretaker Prime Minister. "The President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, took note of the resignation of Mr. Ludovic Orban from the position of Prime Minister of Romania.

President Klaus Iohannis has challenged the 5,000 lei worth fine from the National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD) related to his statement regarding the draft law on the autonomy of the Szekerland. His challenge was submitted with the court on Friday and asks for the cancellation of the CNCD Decision No. 443/20.05.2020.
