A Methane Explosion killed 52 people in a Russian Mine

A criminal case for violations of industrial safety was opened on the occasion of yesterday's tragedy in the Russian coal mine "Listvyazhnaya", which took the lives of 52 people. The company's director, Sergei Mahrakov, his first deputy and the head of the area where the explosion took place, have been arrested. The investigation will be overseen by the Prosecutor General's Office.

Nearly 700 kg of Heroin Seized in Sliven - GDBOP

The General Directorate Combating Organized Crime and Bulgaria's Prosecutor's Office have seized a large quantity of heroin, this country's Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev announced on Twitter. Geshev placed the Bulgarian and the U.S. national flags under his announcement and added that "this has been a joint operation between Bulgaria and its international partners." 

Court Ruled All Arrests in Presidency Made Year Ago Are Unlawful

All arrests after the action in the presidency are unlawful.

This was decided by the Sofia Administrative Court, which upheld the decision of the Sofia District Court from November last year.

Among those arrested during the July 2020 operation was President's Security and Defense Adviser at the time Iliya Milushev.

Moldova Not Investigating Torture Allegations, US Report Says

A US State Department report on human rights in Moldova in 2019 said the country was failing to investigate most allegations of mistreatment and torture.

The report issued on Wednesday said prosecutors only opened cases for about 10 per cent of reported allegations of torture and mistreatment in the first half of 2019.
