President Radev Vetoes Changes to Criminal Procedure Code, Citing Constitutional Concerns

President Rumen Radev has taken a decisive stance against amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code, effectively vetoing provisions aimed at reinstating the Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council and bolstering the powers of the Prosecutor General.

EU, Civil Society, Criticise Kosovo’s Choice of Chief Prosecutor

The European Union has expressed concern about the election of Blerim Isufaj as Kosovo's new Chief Prosecutor on Wednesday, and local civil society organisations have urged President Vjosa Osmani to consider the evident shortcomings of the process when she decides to decree the decision or not.

This statement came after Abazovi said that he would overthrow the Government if the Minister of Police, Sergej Sekulovi, is replaced.
The party of the President of the Assembly, Aleksa Bei, estimates that Abazovi "stabbed a knife in the back" to all those with whom he was in the coalition and who were his superiors, and that he continues "in his recognizable style".

"I will return the prosecution laws to a new vote in parliament because they are against the constitution. Fundamental democratic principles and our partnership with the EU are being destroyed by these laws," Djukanovic told a press conference.

Montenegro to Change Prosecutor Appointment System Despite Criticism

The changes being proposed would see Prosecutorial Council members being elected by the votes of 41 out of a total of MPs in parliament, while any reputable lawyer can be elected as Supreme State Prosecutor.
