A Roman-era sculpture was seized by the provincial gendarmerie command in a car in the western province of Denizli's Sarayköy district. The 15x10-centimeter bronze sculpture, depicting a horse-drawn carriage with a gladiator figure, was delivered to the Denizli Museum Directorate.

Evrensel journalist Kemal Özer detained in Tunceli
Kemal Özer, a journalist and nature photographer for daily Evrensel, was detained by police as part of an anti-terrorism probe in the eastern Turkish province of Tunceli late on Sept. 4, Doğan News Agency has reported.
Özer's vehicle was stopped at a police checkpoint at the entrance of Tunceli city center while he was returning from the province's Ovacık district.

223 illegal migrants caught in Turkey's east
Some 103 illegal migrants of Afghan and Pakistani origin have been caught in the eastern province of Erzincan, after the bus carrying them broke down, while another 120 illegal migrants were found in the eastern province of Ağrı, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on July 23.

One soldier killed in PKK bomb attack
A Turkish soldier was killed in a roadside bomb attack in Turkey's southeastern Şırnak province on Nov. 30, a military official said.
The soldier was severely injured when explosives believed to have been planted by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants detonated as a military vehicle passed in Uludere, a district lying on the Iraq border.
