The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) has handed out, on Thursday, the mandates proving their election as MEPs following the vote on May 25.

Ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) Chairman, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, believes the result the PSD-UNPR-PC (Social Democratic Party-Conservative Party-National Union for Romania's Progress) Electoral Alliance registered in these elections is a higher one compared with the results obtained in other years, but recommends that this score be treated 'with modesty.'

Local by-elections to fill the vacated seats in the local administration - County Council president, mayor or local councilor - will be organized this Sunday in 19 counties concurrently with elections for the European Parliament.

Thus, in the Arges County, by-elections will be held for the position of County Council president.
