Bosnian Serbs to Hold Defiant Celebration
The Bosnian Serb presidency told BIRN that events to mark Republic Day would go ahead on January 9, despite the fact that the annual holiday celebrating the entity's foundation was ruled unconstitutional by the state Constitutional Court because it discriminates against non-Serb residents of Republika Srpska.

14,512 public sector employees to be laid off
The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government has announced that the number of public sector employees should be reduced by 14,512.
This should happen over the next two months, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

Cristiana Pasca Palmer - proposed Minister of Environment, Waters and Forestry (biography)
Cristiana Pasca Palmer is a graduate of the Natural Sciences Faculty of the University of Bucharest (1996). She then went on to complete master's degree studies in Science, Ecological Systems and Natural Capital Management, at the same university (1996-1997).

Kori Udovicki has said that she encountered "the biggest problem with the Ministry of Finance, that is looking to hire more people."
Udovicki is one of deputy prime ministers in the Serbian government, also in charge of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.
Albania to Probe 'Political' Public Sector Recruitment
Albania's parliament has set up an investigative commission to check how the hiring process in the public administration has been conducted during the last two years.
The commission was sought by the main opposition party Democratic Party, which has accused the government of hiring unqualified people based on political ties - while firing professionals.
Serbian Parliament Mulls Public Sector Layoffs
The Serbian parliament on Monday discussed the government's legislative proposal for public sector employment which envisages that around 9,000 people will be laid off by the end of 2015, most of them in the education, justice and healthcare sectors.

"9,000 public administration employees are surplus"
It has been established that the Serbian public administration has a surplus of around 9,000 employees, Kori Udovicki said on Monday.
The minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government added that they should "leave" by the end of this year.

President Klaus Iohannis signed on Wednesday the decree appointing Sevil Shhaideh to the position of Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration, with the incoming official due to take the oath of investiture at 17:00 hrs at the Cotroceni Palace, official sources told AGERPRES.
