The union representing workers of the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO) on Wednesday issued a statement claiming that its members had been threatened and intimidated by associates of Deputy Health Minister Pavlos Polakis.

It was decided during the meeting that information in the languages of national minorities remains a priority area for funding for 2018, the government announced.

The budget fund for national minorities has been increased 12 times over in comparison with the previous year and now it stands at RSD 21.8 million.

The locker and pump room of the municipal sports stadium in Mandra, western Attica, was built over a stream illegally, an inspection has found, making it the second municipal property to be found in serious violation of zoning rules.

A string of serious oversights resulted in the extensive loss of life and property damage in Mandra during last month's floods in the western Attica seaside town, the General Inspector for Public Administration has found.

Public administration will grind to a halt at midday Wednesday after the Attica branch of the national union representing civil servants, ADEDY, called a work stoppage.

The union called on its members to gather outside the Health Ministry in downtown Athens at 1 p.m. to protest the upcoming expiration of hundreds of fixed-term contracts in the public health sector.
