Caretaker Regional Minister Komitova Dismissed Board Chairman of Road Infrastructure Agency

Caretaker Regional Development and Public  Works Minister Violeta Komitova dismissed on Monday the previously appointed by her Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) Management Board Chairman, Apostol Minchev, her Ministry said on  Tuesday.
Minchev has single-handedly decided to halt all reconstruction works implemented by the Agency.

BGN 220 Million of Low-interest Financing Planned for Projects in South Bulgaria

Low-interest financing of BGN 220 million is earmarked for projects in Southern Bulgaria, in the field of tourism, renovation of cultural and historical heritage, sports, and energy efficiency for students, said Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Denitsa Nikolova, quoted by Focus News Agency.

BGN 200 mln For Tourist Attractions Development

The Regional Development Ministry said it is providing BGN 200 million for the development of tourist attractions under the Regions in Growth 2014-2020 operational programme. The programme's Managing Authority published draft guidelines for application yesterday and expects suggestions or comments by February 23.

Bulgaria Continues with 'Struma' Motorway

Bulgaria has started work on a 12.6km section of ''Struma'' motorway between the southwestern towns of Blagoevgrad and Krupnik.

A consortium led by Bulgarian construction company Agromah is building the section under a contract worth just over EUR 71 million, according to the regional development ministry.

Work is scheduled to end in August 2019.

Regional Development Ministry Committed to Sustainable Urban Mobility

''The Regional Development Ministry has a commitment to the development of the sustainable urban mobility nationwide, Bulgarian municipalities can count on our support'', Minister Nikolay Nankov said, quoted  FOCUS News Agency.

The minister took part in a discussion as part of the contest Eco-municipality.

Lot 3.1 of Struma Motorway to be Built from August

Construction of lot 3.1 of the Struma motorway will start in August, Minister Nikolay Nankov told BTV's morning show, quoted by the press office of the Regional Development Ministry.

There is already a selected builder and financing for the stretch, while the construction permit is pending. The lot is nearly 13km long between Blagoevgrad and Krupnik.

PM Boyko Borisov Appoints Three Deputy Ministers

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has appointed three deputy ministers in the Ministries of Health, Regional Development and Energy, the government's press office said.

Svetlana Yordanova, master in accounting and engineer-chemist, will work in the Health Ministry. Until now, she was secretary of the ministry's National Council of Narcotic Substances.
