Seven people were arrested outside the London headquarters of Barclays bank on Wednesday after climate change activists broke windows to protest the role of the financial sector in climate change, news wires reported. "You may dislike our action today but I ask you to compare a crack in a window to funding wildfires and flooded homes," said a campaigner cited by Reuters.

The US has said that it is "horrified" by the killing of scores of anti-coup protesters in Myanmar on Saturday.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused the military of "a reign of terror" that was "sacrificing the lives of the people to serve the few".

Saturday was the deadliest day since last month's military takeover.

Bulgaria's only nuclear plant, Kozloduy, has shut one of its two 1,000-megawatt reactors for planned annual maintenance, it said on Wednesday, reports Reuters. 

It said the reactor, Unit 5, will be reconnected to the national grid in mid-June once it is refuelled and equipment repaired and upgraded.

Bulgaria's food safety agency reported an outbreak of the virulent bird flu virus H5N8 on Wednesday on a backyard farm in northwestern Bulgaria, reports Reuters.

Israel has launched what it calls "an operation to expose and neutralise" tunnels between Lebanon and Israel allegedly dug by armed group Hezbollah, reported Al Jazeera. 

The operation was announced by the Israeli military on Twitter on Tuesday. 

He added that this agreement would undermine Bulgarian national interests.

"The position of the Bulgarian government is not to join UN's global pact on migration," the deputy head of the GERB said after a meeting of coalition heads, Reuters reports. The agency says the juior coalition partner of GERB, the United Patrioty, strongly opposes the UN pact.

Bulgaria's food safety agency reported an outbreak of the virulent bird flu virus on Monday on two duck farms in southern Bulgaria, reports Reuters. 

"We must enlarge the EU as quickly and as soon as possible. We want to see EU 28, 29, 30. The Western Balkans is a place where tensions can emerge," Peter Szijjarto said on Monday at Londons Chatham House think-tank, "arguing that it shouldnt require another seven years to go though the process," Reuters reported.
