Deputy Defense Minister: There is No Military Threat to Bulgaria

"The statement of the Russian MP Pyotr Tolstoy is impudent, inadmissible, unacceptable and does not correspond to international law and normal relations between countries", Deputy Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov told BTV today. He specified that he did not accept what was said as a direct military threat.

Ukrainian officials said today that Russian forces had launched a comprehensive attack on the Azovstal steel and iron works plant near Mariupol.
As the commander of the Azov regiment, Denys Prokopenko, said, the Ukrainian forces inside the factory have been waging "difficult, bloody battles" for the second day, reports the BBC.

Russia Tightens Gun Controls After Massacre in Kazan School

The gun rampage at a school in the city of Kazan has prompted President Vladimir Putin to order a tightening of Russia's gun controls.

A 19-year-old, Ilnaz Galyaviev, was detained and he is the suspected shooter. Seven children and two adults were killed. Dozens more were wounded and some are in critical condition.

Cosmonaut Shows Space Station Hole to Calm Public

AFP - A cosmonaut on Monday showed off a hole in the International Space Station that caused loss of oxygen after Russia suggested the leak could have been caused deliberately.

Cosmonaut Sergei Prokopyev posted a video on social media where he shows the small sealed hole in the wall of a Russian-made Soyuz space capsule docked onto the ISS.

Russia Says It Knew of Bulgaria Ban on Syria-Bound Planes

Russia was informed over the weekend of Bulgaria's decision not to give clearance to Russian planes loaded with humanitarian aid for Syria, Moscow's Embassy in Sofia has said.

"An official notice arrived to us back in the weekend," Interfax quotes Evgeniya Suslova, press officer at the Russian Embassy, as saying.
