Sarajevo Cantonal Assembly

The Sarajevo Cantonal Assembly, one of ten cantons in Bosnia's mainly Bosniak and Croat-dominated Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, has voted to shorten school classes in the Muslim Ramadan to give extra time to observant pupils and teachers to break the religious fast. 

A decision by the Sarajevo Cantonal Assembly to name one of the streets in the Novi Grad municipality after a Hague Tribunal defendant, deceased Bosnian Army general Mehmed Alagic has been criticised by survivors of the 1992-95 war, international organisations and rights activists.

Leaders of the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, the main Bosniak party in Bosnia, on December 18 named Denis Zvizdic as the next president of the Council of Ministers, in effect, Bosnia's next Prime Minister.
