Coronavirus death toll reaches 4,746 as recoveries exceed 146,000
Turkey's confirmed cases of the coronavirus increased by 922 in the past 24 hours, and 17 more people have died, taking the death toll to 4,746, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on June 10.
Turkey's total confirmed cases stood at 173,036, Koca told a press conference after a meeting with the Science Board.
Turkey extends quarantine of Umrah pilgrimage returnees
Turkey on March 30 decided to extend the quarantine period of citizens that returned from the Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, after some returnees tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
According to Demirören News Agency, the quarantine period of the citizens has been extended for one more week by a decision by the Science Board of the Health Ministry.
Turkey to evacuate students from virus-hit countries
Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay announced on March 20 that Turkey will evacuate its students in countries where air traffic has been suspended.
Turkey completes evacuation from Europe
Turkey's vice president said on early March 18 that some 2,807 Turkish citizens have been brought home at their request from nine European countries on which Turkey imposed travel bans amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

Rare photos mark 100th anniversary of WWI
The Turkish Historical Society has released historical photographs from World War I to mark the 100th anniversary of the war, which show Ottoman troops fighting in seven different battlefields including Gallipoli, Iraq and Yemen.
