Turkey's top science body has launched a comprehensive project to strengthen the country's cyber security after a week-long cyberattack that targeted hundreds of thousands of Turkish websites.

The government will overhaul Turkey's top science and technology research council in order to "build closer cooperation with the private sector," Technology Minister Fikri I??k stated on Dec. 11.
10 arrested in military espionage case in ?zmir
A criminal court of peace in the Aegean city of ?zmir has ruled for the arrest of 10 suspects in a "military espionage" case in which 13 people were charged with fabricating evidence.
The ?zmir public prosecutor had sent the 13 suspects, four of whom were security officials who exercised their right to remain silent, to court for arrest.

Books as 'sources of evil' in the 21st century
A 1953 novel by Ray Bradbury, one of the most prolific science fiction writers of American literature, titled "Fahrenheit 451" was filmed by François Truffaut in 1966. The book and the film depict a "civilization" where the burning of books and hating books are the most important values.

Turkey's science watchdog recalls 50,000 books for possible destruction
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜB?TAK) has recalled 50,000 books that it has published in Turkey, vowing to destroy any that do not meet the criteria of "localness and cultural coherence."
After the recall, the watchdog's editorial board will decide on which books to destroy for not being in line with what it deems to be Turkey's national culture.
Turkey's top judicial board suspends controversial prosecutor
The Supreme Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) has "temporarily" suspended a prosecutor who oversaw a number of controversial investigations including the Ergenekon, Balyoz (Sledgehammer), and KCK cases from 2007 to 2012.

Turkey develops national car with Saab
A senior minister has announced Turkey purchased the intellectual property rights to Saab's 9-3 model, with the goal of using it to develop a Turkish-branded car and advance in the field of extended-range vehicles.
"We bought the Saab 9-3's intellectual property rights, but not its name," Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri I??k said in a televised interview on Oct. 15.

More than 200 crime scene photos missing in case into blast at military ammunition depot
Some 218 crime scene photos from an ammunition depot blast in the western province of Afyonkarahisar in 2012 that killed 25 soldiers have disappeared, while Turkey's scientific watchdog refused the demand to find a way to return the photos on grounds of being "too busy."
