President insists PM should resign, confirms choice of successor
President Klaus Iohannis says the best way to put an end to the current political scandal in Romania is the resignation of Prime Minister Victor Ponta, and stands by his first option for a replacement.

The Liberals have filed a motion to censure the Ponta Government on Friday, with the office of the Chamber of Deputies Speaker, Valeriu Zgonea, as well as with the office of the Senate Speaker, Calin Popescu-Tariceanu.

Romanian Parliament Blocks Probe into Ex-Minister
Romanian lawmakers on Tuesday again rejected the detention request of prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption Department, DNA, in the case of a former transport minister, Dan Sova.
There were 72 votes against the request and 66 in favour.
The upper chamber, the Senate, vetoed the same request on March 25 but a Constitutional Court ruling made it repeat the voting procedure.
