Serbia, Turkey eye stronger defense industry ties

Serbia and Turkey are looking to improve defense industry ties, defense and diplomatic officials from both countries said on Nov. 25. 

A meeting in the capital Belgrade between Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic and Turkish Ambassador Tanju Bilgiç stressed the need for more cooperation in the field of equipment and modernization, said a Serbian Defense Ministry statement.

Russia Helps Serbia to Modernize Air Force Fleet

Apart from relying on the delivery of Russian jets, Serbia has a few of its own aircraft that need to be modernized.

The light attack and training aircraft Galeb and the twin-engine, subsonic ground-attack and reconnaissance aircraft Soko J-22 Orao, known for being the first in the history of Yugoslav aviation to overcome the sound barrier, are set for some upgrades soon.

Working group on civilian air traffic over Kosovo meets

A working group set up to deal with normalization of civilian air traffic over the province of Kosovo met on Monday in Belgrade.

According to a Serbian Defense Ministry statement, the meeting, chaired by Defense Minister Zoran Djordjevic,discussed in more detail a proposed negotiation platform to be presented to the Serbian government.

Serbia showcases new weapons and equipment at UAE arms expo

Serbia's defense industry has presented its brand new and standard military equipment and weapons at the IDEX 2017 international arms expo in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Serbian Defense Ministry said that the companies taking part include Yugoimport SDPR, Sloboda, Prva Petoletka, Zastava Oruzje, Krusik, and Borbeni Slozeni Sistemi.

Serbia to Receive Six MiG-29 Jets From Russia by May

BELGRADE - Russian specialists would help Belgrade modernize six aircraft to be received from Russia, as well as four fighter jets from the Serbian Air Force fleet, according to local media.

The Serbian Defense Ministry will receive six Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter jets from Russia before the end of April, Serbian media reported Sunday.

China's invitation to celebrations of victory over fascism

BELGRADE - The Ministry of National Defense of the People's Republic of China extended an official invitation to the Serbian Defense Ministry and Armed Forces to take part in the celebrations of 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism in World War II.

The Defense Ministry stated in a release that Beijing will hold a military parade on the occasion.
