North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Zaev: I will Stay to Keep the Democratic Majority

A decision was made today to postpone both resignations. We neither debated nor decided on them. When I resigned on 31 October, I said that I would help maintain the parliamentary majority and work to increase it if possible. Such is the responsibility to the state and the people. It makes perfect sense to work on this process.

Local Elections are being Held in North Macedonia

Local elections will be held today in the neighboring Republic of North Macedonia, a BGNES reported.

1,824,864 people have the right to vote. 301 candidates are running for mayor and 10,600 for municipal councilors. Twelve candidates are running for mayor of the capital, Skopje. The second round of elections will take place on October 31.

Stevo Pendarovski is the New President of Northern Macedonia

Stevo Pendarovski won the presidential elections in northern Macedonia. The ruling coalition candidate received 51.66% of the votes, reported NOVA TV. 

Pendarovski faced a run-off against Gordana Silyanovska-Davkova, the opposition VMRO-DPMNE.

Pendarovski was elected by the ruling party of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev Social Democratic Union (SDSM).
