In the latest setback for the Sofia Municipal Council, attempts to elect a chairman have faltered for the seventh time. The run-off vote featured Tsvetomir Petrov from the coalition "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (WCC-DB) - Spasi Sofia," securing 26 votes, while Diana Tonova, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) candidate, trailed with only 9 votes.

The Transport Committee of the Sofia City Council is today considering the proposal of municipal councilors Zafir Zarkov, Carlos Contrera, Simeon Stavrev and Boris Bonev to improve service in ground transport in the capital.

The night public transport in Sofia will be restored in two stages.

The Sofia City Council adopted the metropolitan's budget for this year with 33 votes in favor, 26 against and 1 abstained. The debate lasted four hours. BSP and Democratic Bulgaria did not support the budget.

,,The election campaign has begun. It has turned from a battle for Sofia into a battle against Sofia.'' This was stated by the Mayor of the capital Yordanka Fandakova in her speech about the inaugural session of the Sofia City Council.

For the first time yesterday,Vision for Sofia presented 24 long-term goals and nearly 250 steps for the development of the Sofia Municipality. They are expected to be voted on immediately after the local elections in the autumn at a meeting of the Sofia City Council. The priorities are environment and urban environment, transport, people, governance, economy, identity and culture.

The team of the "Vision for Sofia" initiative will present on September 2 the long-term goals for the development of Sofia Municipality.

The Metropolitan Municipality has announced an order for the supply and installation of household chimney filters that use wood and coal for heating. The estimated budget is BGN 7.92 million with VAT. The plan is to initially buy up to 1000 pieces, and subsequently, possibly more.

Yordanka Fandakova will propose to the Sofia City Council to adopt an agreement for lifting the salaries of the drivers in the public transport with 10% for three consecutive years, Econ.bg. The Mayor's proposal is after a meeting today with the leaders of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions and the Confederation of Labour ''Podkrepa''.

As of April 1, the wages of Sofia's public transport drivers are increasing, after the Sofia City Council's proposal on March 14 approved the proposal of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova to increase the salaries of the urban transport drivers by 10% from April 1.
