Who is Who: Mihail Mikov, New Chair of Bulgarian Socialist Party

Mihail Mikov, the newly elected Chair of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), was born on June 16, 1960 in the northwestern town of Kula.

He holds an MA in Law from the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.”

Mikov obtained specializations in human rights, tax law, and anti-corruption practices from universities in France, US and Italy.

Dimitar Bechev is a senior policy fellow and head of the office of the European Council on Foreign Relations in Sofia. From 2006-2010, he was a research fellow at Oxford's European Studies Centre and held a lectureship in International Relations at Worcester College, Oxford, and a visiting professorship at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo.

Bulgarian Socialists Deem Ex-President ‘Self-Expelled’ from Party

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is set to announce the "self-expulsion" of former Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov.

At its upcoming National Council on Friday, Bulgaria's ruling party will also declare the resignation of key BSP members who earlier joined Parvanov's splinter movement called Alternative for Bulgarian Renaissance (ABV), has learned.
