Montenegrin Resort’s Mayor Arrested on Suspicion of Drug Trafficking

The Special State Prosecution said the arrest of Bozovic and unnamed persons from Budva, Cetinje and the capital Podgorica, was organised with the support of the European police agency EUROPOL.
Mayor of the Municipality of Budva arrested
By order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT), Boovi was arrested in his family home in the center of Budva.
According to the knowledge of Vijesti, the arrests commenced this morning at 4 a.m. in Budva, Cetinje and Podgorica.

On March 22, the police force's assistant director, Dejan Knezevic, was arrested on the orders of the Special State Prosecutor's Office for allegedly setting up a criminal organisation.

Knezevic was arrested as part of a large-scale investigation of police links with the notorious Kavac drug gang, which has led to 12 current and ex-police officers' arrests and to national warrants for the arrest of three others.

In the transcripts of the conversations using the encrypted messaging application Sky ECC, Milos Medenica claimed his mother was aware of their illegal business and said that they can expect protection from her.
Media reported that she was arrested for abuse of office.
Former President of the Montenegrin Supreme Court arrested
The news was confirmed to "Vijesti" and "Vijesti" Television from several sources from the Police Administration.
According to reliable information, Medenica was detained due to a well-founded suspicion that she committed two criminal acts - creation of a criminal organization and abuse of official position, according to the portal Vijesti.

On Wednesday, police arrested a customs officer, Dejan Dabanovic, and Mimo Perocevic, owner of a private truck company, suspected of smuggling 11,349 boxes of cigarettes out of the port.
