The Sports Ministry on Jan. 11 launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to national wrestler Seyfullah Karadeniz having to mop the floors at the provincial Directorate of Youths and Sports in the Central Anatolian province of Çankırı.

Some 239,097 university students, out of just over one million who received credit from the state for their higher education, have failed to pay back their loans on time, daily Evrensel reported on Aug. 23. 

The Youth and Sports Ministry has used a picture of U.S. gold medalist swimmer Dana Vollmer in one of its posters but digitally changed the U.S. flag on her cap with a Turkish one, daily Sözcü reported on July 6.

The Youth and Sports Ministry has prepared a list of digital games that contain "harmful" elements for youngsters, raising eyebrows for including popular games like Guitar Hero, Call of Duty and Pacman, daily Milliyet reported on June 26. 

Twenty-five million Turkish gamers spend a total of 39 million hours per day in front of screens playing e-games, the Youth and Sports Ministry stated on June 18.

During a presentation at parliament, the ministry said the economic volume of digital games in Turkey had reached $600 million,

Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdzhikov presented on Friday the results of the inspections of the ministries which he ordered at the first meeting of the caretaker cabinet.

The PM ordered the preparation of analytical reports on the state of the ministries with an emphasis on public procurement orders and steps to be taken in order to deal with possible violations.

The Youth and Sports Ministry has organized a series of events that will bring together prisoners and veteran Turkish footballers. 

Three of the Bulgarian participants in the paralympics - the gold medalist Ruzhdi Ruzhdi, Radoslav Zlatanov and Daniela Todorova, as well the coach Radostin Todorov will file a complaint with the Commission for Protection against Discrimination because of the remuneration which disabled athletes receive.

German media outlet Deutsche Welle (DW) has filed a lawsuit against the Turkish Youth and Sports Ministry after the latter seized video footage of an interview conducted with its minister for a program featured on the outlet's TV channel. 

Turkey's Youth and Sports Ministry has issued a statement over reports on the seizure of an interview by German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) with Youth and Sports Minister Akif Çağatay Kılıç, saying it did not reflect the truth.
