The CHP's proposed also called for July 11 to be declared Genocide Remembrance Day to commemorate the killings of more than 7,000 Bosniak men and boys by Bosnian Serb forces in 1995.

A joint funeral is being held on Tuesday for 30 victims of the July 1995 genocide of Bosniaks, with thousands of mourners expected to attend the annual commemoration at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On July 13 and 14, 1995 Bosnian Serb forces killed 1,313 Bosniak men in the warehouse in the village of Kravica after they were captured following the fall of Srebrenica.

Salih Brkic, a doyen of journalism in Bosnia and Herzegovina who was known for his coverage of the 1992-95 war, died on Friday in the city of Tuzla after a short illness.

Ten days after her term in office began, one of the first tasks undertaken by Graciela Gatti Santana, the new president of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, was to deliver a speech at the commemoration of the 27th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.

Mourners gathered at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre on Monday to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the July 1995 genocide and attend the burial of 50 more victims of the mass killings of more than 7,000 Bosniak men and boys.

They walked for around 100 kilometres across mountainous terrain and through dense forests before reaching the village of Nezuk, where the Bosnian Army was stationed. Along the way, many were shot at, ambushed, captured and executed.

The annual Srebrenica Peace March is setting off from the village of Nezuk on Friday, following in reverse the 100-kilometre route taken by Bosniaks who fled on foot from Bosnian Serb forces in July 1995.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Missing Persons Institute said that 50 genocide victims will be laid to rest at a collective funeral at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre on July 11, the day of the anniversary commemoration of the mass killings in 1995.

Saha Bumbulovic said that her father Adil Selimovic, who was killed on July 13, 1995 at the age of 59, will be among those who will be buried.

Nationalist organisation Eastern Alternative said it will screen a film about the "liberation of Srebrenica" by Bosnian Serb forces in July 1995, a documentary including a speech by war criminal Ratko Mladic, in Srebrenica on July 11, the same day as the 27th anniversary of the genocide of Bosniaks will be commemorated nearby.
