Dimitar Georgiev Appointed as Head of Bulgaria's Domestic Security Agency DANS

Dimitar Georgiev is the new chief of Bulgaria's domestic security agency DANS.

President Rosen Plevneliev has issued a decree for the appointment of Georgiev as Chairman of the State Agency for National Security known by its Bulgarian acronym DANS, according to a press release issued by the president's press office on Friday.

Cabinet Approves Head of State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad

The Bulgarian government approved Boris Vangelov as chairperson of the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad.

This emerged after the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, the government's press service reports.

Vangelov holds Master's degrees in History and Geography and Law from the Veliko Tarnovo University St. Cyril and St. Methodius.

EU to Grant Bulgaria BGN 10 M in Funding on Refugee Projects

The European Commission is to fund Bulgaria in the amount of BGN 10 M on emergency measures on account of the increased influx of emigrants in the country.

Bulgaria Defense Ministry to Dispatch 180 Troops along Border with Turkey

As many as 180 troops are to be deployed at the Bulgaria-Turkey border, Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev has said.

The soldiers will be in charge of providing logistic support to Border Police, the Interior Ministry subdivision in charge of safeguarding border security.

Bulgaria Foresees New Investments for Municipalities Hosting Refugees

Bulgarian municipalities with refugee accommodation centers and those involved in integration programmes will receive significant subsidies.

Bulgaria to Build Two Additional Refugee Accommodation Centres

Chairman of the State Agency for the Refugees Nikola Kazakov announced on Monday that two new centres for the accommodation of refugees will be built in southern Bulgaria.

Kazakov explained in an interview for the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) that an information campaign will be carried out in order to calm the citizens.
