Real GDP growth in first quarter reaches 3.5 pct

In the first quarter of 2016, Serbia's real GDP grew 3.5 percent y-o-y, according to a flash estimate by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (RZS).

The calculation of quarterly GDP for Q1 2016, which is more detailed and compiled at lower levels of aggregation by deflation method, will be published on May 31, 2016.

"Unemployment rate drops to 17.9 percent"

Unemployment rate in Serbia totaled 17.9 percent in the second quarter of the year.

This is a drop of 1.3 percent relative to the first quarter of the year, or three percent relative to the second quarter of 2014, acording to the survey of the labor market in the second quarter of 2015, carried out by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (RSZ).

Serbia's trade drops 12 pct in USD and grows 7.1 pct in EUR

BELGRADE - Serbia's foreign trade in the January-March 2015 period amounted to USD 7.48 billion, down 11.9 percent against a year earlier, while expressed in the Eurozone currency, it was EUR 6.64 billion, an increase of 7.1 percent, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (RZS) said in a release Thursday.

313,411 Serbian citizens working abroad

BELGRADE - A total of 313,411 Serbian citizens are staying abroad temporarily for work or other purposes, which constitutes 4.2 percent of the total number of the country's population, and their average age is 34.7, which makes them considerably younger compared to the average age of Serbian citizens (42.2 years), show the results of the latest census of population from 2011.
