Democratic Front MPs caused an incident in an effort to prevent the law from being passed. They ran into fights with members of the ruling coalition, chased them with bottles, glasses, tossed their microphones and tried to throw a kind of smoke bomb into the plenary.

The Montenegrin Movement, an NGO, has called on the authorities to ban the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Irinej, from entering Montenegro for celebrations marking 800 years of the Serbian Church's autocephaly, or ecclesiastical independence.

The European Commission says Montenegro needs to do more to combat impunity over war crimes and effectively investigate, prosecute, try and punish war criminals in line with international standards.

Montenegro has decided to establish a special prosecution office for organized crime and corruption, war crimes and human trafficking - to prove that it is a serious candidate for membership of the European Union.
