Greta Thunberg fined $240 for Disobeying Police during Protest

The Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg was sentenced to pay a fine for disobeying the Swedish police, reports AFP.

Thunberg admitted in court that she disobeyed police during a rally last month in Malmö, but said she did not commit a crime because the climate demonstration was a "necessary action" because of the climate crisis.

Protesters Stormed and Set Fire to the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad

Hundreds of protesters stormed the Swedish embassy in central Baghdad in the early hours of Thursday and set it on fire to protest an expected Quran burning in Sweden, Reuters reported.

All embassy staff in Baghdad are safe, the Swedish Foreign Ministry press office said in a statement, condemning the attack and stressing the need for Iraqi authorities to protect diplomatic missions.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on June 30 called for calm and reflection in the wake of this week's protest in which a Quran was burned outside a Stockholm mosque, which has sparked outrage and condemnation.

Swedish police have arrested a 46-year-old man suspected of involvement in the case of the robbery from five safe deposit boxes in an Athens bank in July 2022.

Swedish police said officers wounded three people Sunday in the eastern city of Norrkoping as demonstrators protested plans by a far-right group to burn copies of the Quran.

"Police fired several warning shots. Three people appear to have been hit by ricochets and are currently being treated in hospital", police said in a statement.
