Bishops do not take a religious oath
A quarter of a century ago, in June 1998, the sixth section of the Council of State was examining a seemingly paradoxical case: The Theological School of the University of Athens was refusing to award a degree to one of its graduates because he refused to take the established religious oath.

The new Archbishop of America, Elpidophoros, was elected unanimously by the members of the Ecumenical Patriarchate's Holy Synod, according to a press release from the Phanar on Saturday.

Minister opposes plans to establish Islamic Studies department at Thessaloniki university
Minister of Macedonia and Thrace Giorgos Orfanos has criticized plans to establish a department of Islamic Studies at the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
In comments made Thursday, Orfanos said that it would be wrong to mix the study of Orthodox faith with something else.
