Renowned pianist Yefim Bronfman and Norwegian conductor Terje Mikkelsen join the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra at the northern port city's concert hall (tch.gr) on April 20. The Soviet-born Israeli-American soloist will be performing Schumann's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra and Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.

Swedish label BIS releases landmark album of works by Nikos Skalkottas
Swedish record label BIS launched what has been hailed as the most systematic and serious effort to showcase the oeuvre of Greek composer Nikos Skalkottas (1904-49) on the 50th anniversary of his death.

The Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra performs a tribute to Richard Strauss (1864-1949) with a concert of the German composer's Serenade for 13 Winds, Duet-Concertino for clarinet and bassoon, Metamorphosen, Study for 23 Solo Strings and Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks. The ensemble is conducted by Dimitris Botinis, with Spyros Mourikis on clarinet and Alexandros Oikonomou on bassoon.

The Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra gives its first Athens performance under its new artistic director and principal conductor Zoi Tsokanou, joined by accomplished German cellist Daniel Muller-Schott. The play list at the Herod Atticus Theater will include Dvorak's Cello Concerto in B minor and Shostakovich's uplifting Symphony No 5. The concert starts at 9 p.m.

Curtains rise on 56th Thessaloniki Film Festival
The curtain rose on the 56th Thessaloniki International Film Festival on Friday, November 6, 2015 at the packed Olympion theatre. The ceremony, presented by actor Antinoos Albanis and directed by Panagiotis Evangelidis, was followed by the screening of Sebastian Schipper’s Victoria.
