Police chiefs reshuffled with presidential decree

Police chiefs of 10 provinces have been assigned to the headquarters and new police chiefs have been appointed in 33 provinces of the country in line with a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette on July 7.

One civil chief inspector and 26 police chiefs were appointed as internal affairs counselors to 27 overseas missions.

Hrant Dink murder was deliberately permitted, says former police intelligence branch head

Ali Fuat Yılmazer, the former head of Turkey's police intelligence branch, has given his testimony in the 31st hearing into the 2007 killing of Armenian-origin Turkish journalist Hrant Dink, saying the killing was "deliberately not prevented" and security authorities in Istanbul and Trabzon were responsible. 

New police chiefs assigned to 61 provinces in Turkey

New police chiefs have been assigned to 61 provinces across Turkey including İzmir, Adana and Konya, according to a decree published on Oct. 26 in the Official Gazette. The major reshuffle comes as part of sweeping state of emergency decrees just over three months after the failed July 15 military coup attempt.    

Two policemen arrested over Dink murder

An Istanbul court has arrested two policemen involved in the inquiry into the killing of Hrant Dink, the Turkish Armenian journalist.

The court accepted on Jan. 13 the prosecutor's demand to arrest Muhittin Zenit and Özkan Mumcu, two police officers on duty at the police department in the Black Sea province of Trabzon when Dink was killed in Istanbul. 

Policeman arrested over Dink murder

An Istanbul court has arrested a policeman involved in the inquiry into the killing of Hrant Dink, the Turkish Armenian journalist.

The court accepted on Jan. 13 the prosecutor's demand to arrest Muhittin Zenit, one of two police officers on duty at the police department in the Black Sea province of Trabzon when Dink was killed in Istanbul.
