Heavy Vehicles Will Be Stopped on Motorways and Congested Roads at Peak Hours during the Whole Summer

Due to expected heavy traffic to the sea during the summer the traffic of heavy vehicles on motorways and congested roads will be stopped at peak hours at the end of the week and on weekends. On 1 June (Saturday), the order for the movement of trucks over 12 tonnes enters into force in the summer months. The aim is to facilitate travel, increase safety and avoid congestion.

Crete police record more than 1,900 highway code violations over Easter break

Police on Crete recorded more than 1,900 violations of the Greek highway code over the extended Easter holiday break.
Specifically, Traffic Police officers recorded 1,941 violations between April 26 through May 1 after conducting 5,905 inspections on vehicles across the island.

During the Easter Holidays: 68 Vehicle Crashes with Two Dead and 98 Injured

Unfortunately, these holiday days did not go without road accidents. There are a total of 68 crashes involving 98 injured and two perished. Six other people are at risk for life. This was stated by the Inspector General Ilia Georgiev of the Traffic Police in relation to the traffic situation and the safe travel in the last days of the holidays.

Heavy Traffic on Trakia Motorway

According to Traffic Police, there is heavy traffic on the Trakia motorway, the Ministry of Interior said, quoted by NOVA TV. 
They added  that all cars were in the active lane and that in some areas of ongoing repairs drivers could also use the emergency lane in the direction of Sofia in accordance with the signs.

Bulgarian Road Agency: Trucks over 12 Tonnes will be Banned from Motorways in Peak Hours

On the last working day before the Easter holidays, trucks of over 12 tonnes will banned from the motorways and busiest roads from 4 pm to 8 pm. The measure aims to increase safety and ease car traffic, the Road Infrastructure Agency said.
