Foreign tourist arrivals in Antalya tops 4 million
More than 4 million foreign tourists arrived in Antalya by air between Jan. 1 and June 10, pointing to a 37 percent increase from the same period of 2022.

Earthquakes’ cost estimated at 2 trillion Turkish Liras
A report submitted to parliament by the Turkish Presidency estimated the total cost of the February earthquakes at 2 trillion Turkish Liras (around $39 billion).
Each ministry separately calculated the damages from the tremors and funds needed to repair those damages, daily Milliyet reported.
Taxi drivers hold 24-hour strike on Thursday
Greece's taxi drivers will walk off the job on Thursday to protest what they perceive as the Transport Ministry's inaction over long-lasting problems, their union said on Wednesday.

Athens cabbies stage protest over ‘pauperization cocktail’
Hundreds of taxi drivers gathered at central Athinon Avenue on Tuesday morning and began a motorcade to the Transport Ministry, north of downtown Athens, in protest at rising operation costs and unfair competition.
Register for imported used cars
The Transport Ministry has created an online database for imported used vehicles through a register of such vehicles in an effort to stop the phenomena of violations detected during customs clearance.

Court demands arrest in Çorlu train accident
Prosecutors have decided to arrest Mümin Karasu, a maintenance manager at Turkish State Railways (TCDD), in the case of a deadly train derailment in the northwestern province of Tekirdağ's Çorlu district in 2018, killing 25 people.

Maiden’s Tower to be opened to visitors next March
The Culture and Tourism Ministry is aiming to open the Maiden's Tower, whose restoration works have been going on since September 2021, to visitors by next March, Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy has said.
"We gave the building a tower museum format so that a structure that Istanbulites watch from afar will now become a structure from which they watch Istanbul from the inside," Ersoy said.

Touristic Eastern Express set to be back on tracks
The Touristic Eastern Express that runs from Ankara to the eastern province of Kars will resume operations, which were halted in March 2020, in December.
The train will depart from Ankara on Dec. 15, said Transport Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu in a written statement.
