Ankara to respond to any attack on posts in Syria: Defense Ministry

Amid heightened tensions between Ankara and Damascus, Turkey's Defense Ministry has vowed to respond to any attack against Turkish observation posts in Syria's northwestern Idlib region.

During a briefing at the ministry, military sources told state-run Anadolu Agency that Turkey will respond to any attack against its observation posts in the most "intense way as possible."

Erdoğan says Ankara retaliating after Syrian shelling killed Turkish troops

Turkey will continue to retaliate against attacks on its forces in Syria's northwest Idlib region, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Feb. 3, after six Turkish soldiers were killed and seven others were wounded in Syrian government shelling.

"Turkey has responded in kind to the attack in Idlib, and will continue to do so," Erdoğan told reporters before departing for Ukraine.

3 Turkish soldiers killed in northern Syria

At least three Turkish soldiers were killed during an anti-terror operation in northern Syria, an official statement said on Jan. 6.

The soldiers were killed in a car bomb attack during a road control in the Operation Peace Spring zone, said the statement by Turkey's Defense Ministry.

The ministry extended condolences to the grieving families.

Turkish soldier, security guard killed in northern Iraq

A Turkish soldier and security guard were killed in counter-terror operations in northern Iraq, Turkey's Defense Ministry said on Jan. 13.

The two were martyred during operations in the Haftanin region, said a ministry statement, wishing Allah's mercy upon them and conveying condolences to their grieving families.

Four Turkish soldiers killed in northern Syria

Turkey's Defense Ministry on Jan. 9 announced that four Turkish soldiers were killed during an anti-terror operation in Syria.

The soldiers were killed by a vehicle bomb attack during a road control in the Operation Peace Spring zone, the statement said.

The ministry also extended its condolences to the grieving families in the statement.
