Turkey seeking extradition of fugitive businessman

Ankara has already initiated the process for the extradition of businessman Sezgin Baran Korkmaz from Austria, Turkish ambassador to Austria Ozan Ceyhun has said.

Korkmaz, who had been sought by Turkey and the U.S. over money laundering allegations, was arrested in Austria on June 19 at the request of the U.S.

Turkey slams int'l watchdog report on money laundering

The Turkish financial crimes unit slammed a global money laundering watchdog report against the country's money laundering efforts.

"Turkey's struggles weren't revealed in the report. [Turkey] was subjected to unfair assessment," Turkey's Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) officials told Anadolu Agency on Dec. 19 on a recent report by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Former Central Bank employees detained in anti-Gülen operation

At least 27 former employees of the Turkish Central Bank have been detained as part an investigation launched into alleged members of the movement of Fethullah Gülen, the main suspect behind the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, along with several others from the Public Procurement Authority (KİK). 

Turkish financial crimes unit probes 30,000 suspected of Gülen links

Turkey's Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) has probed around 30,000 people linked to the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), the followers of U.S. based preached Fethullah Gülen who is the leading suspect in the July 15 coup attempt probe, in around 400 cases, according to a government report.
