Germany, UK, Follow Netherlands in Closing Istanbul Consulates Over Terror Threat

"The German Consulate General will remain closed today, February 1, for security reasons," the consulate wrote on its Instagram page. Visa and passport appointments were also cancelled.

Turkish, German interior ministers hold security talks

The Turkish and German interior ministers discussed key issues, including terrorism, immigration, and security, in recently held talks, according to an official statement on March 27.

The meeting via video link was held on March 25 between Süleyman Soylu and his German counterpart Horst Seehofer, said Turkey's Interior Ministry.

COVID-19 measures beneficial to marine biodiversity: Expert

After fishing activities have been banned within the scope measures against the coronavirus outbreak, the number and diversity of fish in Turkish seas will increase, according to an expert.

Ertuğ Düzgüneş from Karadeniz Technical University said the fish population will reproduce during the spawning period of May and June without any fishing activity.

Turkey to take measures against COVID-19 during Ramadan

Turkey's Interior Ministry issued a circular on April 22 on measures that will be taken against the novel coronavirus during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

According to the circular, events as well as tents where people gather for iftar, or breaking their fast, which may attract large groups of people will not be allowed.

Interior Ministry exempts working youth from partial curfew

Turkey's Interior Ministry has issued exemptions for a curfew imposed on youth below the age of 20, saying that those who work are exceptions.

Public employees within this age range, those who certify that they work in the private sector and seasonal agricultural workers will be exempted from the curfew.
