Turkish coast guards nab 190,000 migrants in 5 years
The Turkish Coast Guard units have intercepted 188,939 irregular migrants in the past five years, with 39,000 apprehended in the first eight months of this year alone, as they attempted to cross into Europe.
According to the command's data, authorities have referred 296 suspected human traffickers, accused of orchestrating these illicit crossings, to judicial authorities this year.

20 migrants rescued after pushback by Greek authorities
Turkish Coast Guard teams have rescued 20 irregular migrants off the coast of Ayvalık district in the northwestern province of Balıkesir, after receiving reports of a drifting fiber boat in the area.
The migrants, who had been trying to reach Greece's Lesbos Island, were pushed back into Turkish territorial waters by Greek authorities.

Türkiye rescued 22 irregular migrants after Greek authorities pushed them back into Turkish territorial waters, authorities said Monday.
Coast guard units rescued the migrants, including one child, from a lifeboat off the coast of Fethiye in Türkiye's southwestern province of Muğla on Sunday, the Turkish Coast Guard said in a statement.

A statement from the Coast Guard Command's website said teams were dispatched after receiving information about a group of irregular migrants in rubber boats off Seferihisar and Menderes districts.
