Turkey-England travels resume as mandatory quarantine ends

The long-awaited compulsory quarantine-free travel between Turkey and England resumed on Sept. 22 after Turkey was removed from the COVID-19 travel red list last week.

As of 4 a.m. (0300 GMT), all those arriving from Turkey will no longer need to self-isolate in a designated hotel, which was a mandatory process before.

British holidaymakers have launched a petition campaign demanding the U.K. government remove Turkey from the red travel list.

To date, more than 46,000 have signed the petition. At 100,000 signatures, the petition will be considered for debate in the British parliament.

Unofficial historical registry of Turkish diplomacy on table shelf

An antique table at the Turkish embassy in London has shed light on a succession of diplomats for nearly 113 years, excluding a gap of six years in the 1960s, former and incumbent ambassadors have said.

The first signature on the table's shelf was put in 1907 by "First Secretary M." (Başkatip M.)
