Turkey targets to reach exports of $190B in 2020

Turkey targets $190 billion worth of exports in 2020, head of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) said on Jan. 9.

The country's exports reached $180.46 billion, hitting a historical high in 2019, according to the TIM data.

İsmail Gülle also said the share of high-technology products is rising in the country's overall exports.

Turkey sees $2.5B carpet export in 2019

Turkey's carpet export valued at $2.5 billion in 2019, up 11.9 percent year-on-year, a sector board of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly said on Jan. 3.

"We aim to raise this figure to $3 billion in 2020," said the Carpet Industries Board Chairman Salahattin Kaplan.

Turkey sold carpets to 181 countries last year, according to the board head.

Crude steel production at 31M tons in January-November

Turkey's crude steel output was 30.9 million tons in January-November, a trade association said on Dec. 17.

Crude steel production in the country dropped 10.4 percent the first 11 months of 2019 on an annual basis, the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD) said.

Meanwhile, the production of crude steel fell 15 percent to 2.7 million tons year-on-year in November.
