Pakistan honors 2 Turkish citizens with top civilian awards

Pakistan's president conferred Pakistan's top civil awards upon two Turkish dignitaries at a special ceremony in Istanbul on Aug. 15.

Arif Alvi conferred Sitara-e-Imtiaz upon Selami Kılıç and Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam upon Prof. Celal Soydan in recognition of their outstanding services to Pakistan.

Turkey sends 40,000 more vaccine doses to Turkish Cyprus

Turkey sent 40,000 more doses of a coronavirus vaccine early on April 20 to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). 

A Turkish Health Ministry plane carrying the vaccine doses landed at Ercan International Airport in Lefkoşa, where officials of the TRNC's Health Ministry received the shipment.

Turkey bans flights from UK amid new virus strain

Turkey late on Dec. 20 joined other European countries in banning flights from the U.K. and other countries due to concerns over a new fast-moving coronavirus strain. 

"It has been reported that the rate of transmission has increased in the U.K. with the mutation of the coronavirus," Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca wrote on Twitter.
