Turkey detains over 2,500 ISIL members over three years

Turkey has captured more than 2,627 members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), including 837 foreign nationals, over the past three years, the state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Having added ISIL to the official list of terrorist organizations in 2013, Turkish security forces have since detained 2,627 suspected ISIL members in anti-terror operations.

'Strong support' received from Turkey on foreign fighters: UK envoy

British Ambassador to Turkey Richard Moore and Turkish National Police Chief Celalettin Lekesiz have met to discuss support between the two countries on foreign fighters and terrorist threats.

Tweeting about the meeting, Moore said Lekesiz had offered "strong support" in combatting foreign fighters and also the exchange of information on terrorist threats. 

Five police officers released, four others cleared in Turkish-Armenian journalist murder case

Five former police officers recently detained on the charge of "negligence on public duty" have been released, and four others under arrest have been cleared of charges of "committing deliberate murder," "forming an illegal organization," and "membership of an illegal organization to commit crime" in the murder case of Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink.

Investigation launched into police march in Roma neighborhoods in western Turkey

An investigation has been launched into a street march held by police officers who reportedly chanted discriminating slogans following an operation in which hundreds of anti-riot police officers raided several Roma neighborhoods in the northwestern province of Edirne.

118 police chiefs, including Turkey's graft probe police, forced to retire

A total of 118 chief of police have been forced to retire, in line with articles of a controversial homeland security law that has caused debates, fights and protests in the Turkish parliament when opposition parties tried to prevent the bill from passing, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported. 

Number of foreign visitors to Turkey decreases by 8.1 pct in April

The number of foreign people visiting Turkey decreased by 8.1 percent in April from the same months of the previous year, according to data from the Tourism Ministry. 

"The number of foreign visitors decreased to 2.43 million in April, an 8.1 percent decrease from the same period of 2014, upon the temporary figures of the Turkish National Police," said the ministry on May 27. 

UK emphasizes 'close cooperation' with Turkey on foreign fighters

U.K. Ambassador to Turkey Richard Moore has stressed the ongoing close cooperation between his country and Turkey, upon Ankara?s announcement that a spy who worked for a country in the U.S.-led coalition fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) helped three British girls cross into Syria to join the militants and has been caught.
