Finland’s president due in Türkiye for NATO talks
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Finnish counterpart, Sauli Niinistö, will meet on March 17 to discuss Finland's bid to join NATO amid reports that Ankara plans to ratify Finland's accession protocol to the alliance in the coming days while delaying Sweden's bid.

Türkiye may respond "differently" to Finland's NATO bid, which will "shock" Sweden, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Jan. 29.
"We may respond differently to Finland if necessary. Sweden would be shocked when we respond differently to Finland. But Finland should not make the same mistake," Erdoğan said at a meeting in the northwestern province of Bilecik.

A parliamentary panel has begun deliberations over the headscarf bill amid ongoing disagreements between the government and the opposition parties.
The Turkish parliament's Constitutional Commission completed the first round of the talks late Jan. 19 with the plan to continue deliberations on Jan. 24.

Türkiye summons Swedish envoy over 'terror propaganda'
The Foreign Ministry on Jan. 12 summoned Sweden's ambassador in Ankara to lodge a protest over a demonstration in Stockholm where the supporters of the PKK hung a puppet that depicted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from its legs.
The ministry expressed Ankara's frustration about the terrorist propaganda, which targeted Erdoğan and Türkiye, diplomatic sources said.
Talks to be held on Finland’s NATO bid
Finnish officials will arrive in Ankara on Oct. 25 to discuss their country's bid to join NATO, daily Milliyet has reported.
A delegation from Finland's Justice Ministry will meet Kasım Çiçek, the head of foreign relations at the Justice Ministry.
The talks will focus on the extradition of individuals Türkiye regards as terrorists.

Turkish parliament OKs bill to 'fight disinformation'
The Turkish parliament adopted a law seeking up to three years in prison for those accused of spreading disinformation on Oct. 13.
The law proposed by the ruling Justice and Development party (AKP) contains wide-ranging provisions covering domestic journalism as well as social media.
Türkiye about to be ‘old country:’ Statistics
The percentage of elderly people in the total population has reached 9.7, with only 0.3 percent left to call Türkiye an "old country," the statistics have showed.
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of the people over the age of 65 in Türkiye is exactly 8,245,124. Country's total population is around 84 million.
