71.7 pct of graduates employed: TÜİK
Some 71.7 percent of bachelor's degree graduates in Türkiye were employed in 2022, while the undergraduate department with the highest average earnings was flight training last year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has revealed.

Cap on rent hike to be extended, says justice minister
The government is considering extending a 25 percent cap on rent hikes, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç has said.
"Works [on the cap] are ongoing. We are hoping to finalize the respective regulations by July 1," Tunç told reporters following the ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) central decision and executive board meeting.
Consumer confidence plunges in June
The consumer confidence index declined by 6.5 percent month-on-month to 85.1 in June, after improving in the two previous months, data have shown.
Any index figure above the 100-mark indicates optimism among consumers.
All main sub-indices in the consumer tendency survey, carried out jointly by the Central Bank and the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), fell in June.

Commission discusses minimum wage hike
A special commission tasked to determine an adequate hike in the minimum wage for more than 7 million workers held a second meeting on June 19.
The first meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission took place on June 13.

End-year inflation expectations deteriorate
Inflation expectations for the end of 2023 increased from 37.12 percent in May to 38.55 percent in June, the Central Bank's Survey of Market Participants showed on June 16.
The 12-month ahead expectations also rose from 29.8 percent to 30.65 percent.

Foreign firms are also looking at the opportunities in the local housing market after the election-related uncertainties have waned.
Retail sales volume, turnover in key industries rise in April
Both retail sales and turnover in four key sectors, namely industry, construction, trade and services, have increased on an annual basis in April, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.
The retail sales volume index rose by 27.5 percent in April from a year ago, though slowing from the 28.8 percent year-on-year increase recorded in the previous month.
Unemployment rate rose slightly in April
Türkiye's unemployment rate inched up from 10.1 percent in March to 10.2 percent in April, the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) have shown.
The number of unemployed people increased by 74,000 from March to 3.89 million in April.
The unemployment rate among men was 8.1 percent, and among women was 14.3 percent.

Talks on minimum wage hike set to start this week
A commission is set to hold its first meeting later this week to discuss a hike in minimum wages for millions of workers.
Representatives from the government, labor union Türk-İş and the Turkish Confederation of Employers' Association (TİSK) will gather on June 13 at the Labor Ministry.
