Property sales soar in Turkey thanks to cheaper loans, tax incentives

A total of 128,923 properties were sold across Turkey in March, marking a 10 percent year-on-year increase due to cheaper loans and tax incentives. 

Data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) showed on April 24 that the mortgaged sales amounted to 50,424 units in March with a 30 percent increase compared to the same month of 2016. 

One in four Turkish youth unemployed as unemployment rate rises to 13 pct

Close to a quarter of Turkey's youth did not have a job in January, according to data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) that was released on April 17. 

Youth unemployment jumped 5.3 percentage points year on year in January to 24.5 percent overall, according to TÜİK.

Turkish Labor Ministry names 2018 'fight against child labor year'

Turkey's Labor and Social Security Ministry has dubbed 2018 as the year "to fight child labor" and prepared an action plan that includes several key measures, from tighter controls in child labor intensive sectors to closer examination to schools' student attendance records, in a bid to achieve this goal. 

Turkey's annual inflation rises to around 11.3 pct in March, hitting highest since 2008

Turkey's annual inflation hit its highest in more than nine years in March, surging 11.29 percent, as the prices of food, transportation and alcohol all showed double-digit increases, official data showed on April 3.

Consumer prices rose 1.02 percent since the previous month, data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) showed.

Turkey's Economic Confidence Index rises in March

Turkey's Economic Confidence Index improved for the second straight month in March, rising 5 percent to 96.1, data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) showed on March 30.

The increase in economic confidence index stemmed from the increase in construction, services, consumer and real sector confidence indices, according to TÜİK data. 

Over 407,000 new jobs created in Turkey in 2017: Minister

Over 407,000 new jobs were created between Jan. 1 and March 27 in Turkey, a top official has said, adding that around 1 million new jobs were expected to be offered by June. 

In a speech in Ankara on March 28, Labor Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu said that more than 407,000 new jobs were created since the beginning of 2017. 

Property demand from foreigners continues to decline in Turkey

Property sales to foreigners continued to plunge in Turkey in February, while overall sales also saw a quite slight fall, official data showed on March 24. 

Housing sales decreased by 0.2 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year to 101,468 units, the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) announced.
