London court rejects suspending arms exports to Israel
The London High Court rejected a petition to suspend British arms exports to Israel, the lawyers for the plaintiffs said on Tuesday.
A coalition of legal advocacy groups had asked the High Court in January to expedite a judicial review of the U.K. government's decision to keep selling military parts and arms to Israel.

The Indian owner of carmaker Jaguar Land Rover is set to select Britain over Spain to for a giant battery plant employing up to 9,000 people, the BBC reported Wednesday.
The broadcaster, citing sources familiar with the matter, added that the boss of JLR owner Tata Motors was expected to fly into Britain next week to finalise the deal and meet with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Turkish gunmaker Canik buys UK’s AEI Systems
Canik, one of the world's leading arms manufacturers, has announced that it has completed the acquisition of the well-established British defense company AEI Systems.
For the first time, a Turkish company bought a defense firm in the U.K., said Zafer Aral, the board chair of Samsun Yurt Savunma, the owner of Canik.

UK aviation warns green shift to slow demand growth
The financial cost of U.K. aviation cutting carbon emissions will push up ticket prices, slowing passenger demand growth, an industry body has forecast.
Sustainable Aviation predicted in a report that this slowdown will correspond to a "reduction in projected aviation activity of 14.3 percent in 2050" from earlier forecasts.

British annual inflation unexpectedly accelerated in February despite central bank efforts to tame a growing cost-of-living crisis, official data showed yesterday.
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 10.4 percent in the 12 months to February 2023, up from 10.1 percent in January, the Office for National Statistics said.

UK high speed rail line faces two-year delay
The U.K. government on March 9 announced a two-year delay to construction on part of the HS2 high-speed railway connecting London with cities in the north of England.
The part of the line running into central London would also be delayed, as part of cost-saving measures, Transport Minister Mark Harper said.
